Gon didn't mind losing EVERYTHING. He didn't care if he dies, if he loses the ability to use nen.

ðŸ”´ Back to the Chimera Ant arc again..

✒️ In a previous post, I mentioned one of the reasons of why some people criticize this arc cause they feel it was "overly stretched", and I gave reasons of why the arc had a perfect pace and how it totally made sense according to the Chimeras perception of time.

✒️ The second reason that I've been hearing a lot can be divided into 2 parts:

1- Gon's rage being unjustified.

2- Gon's sudden change, boost and him executing Pitou was an easy escape for Togashi.

1- Gon's rage was TOTALLY justified but this was the mistake of the studio in the 2011 adaptation cause they delayed Kite's introduction all the way to the Chimera Ant arc.

Kite is Ging's student, he saved Gon not once but twice, he knew Gon since he was a lil kid and above all, he DIED protecting Gon and Killua..... Aren't these enough reasons for him to want to rip Pitou to shreds?

2- Gon's rage totally makes sense as well.

Gon is not your typical Shonen protagonist. On the surface, he might look like your typical cheery, happy and naive lil kid but inside there is a monster that's just waiting for a chance to pop up.

Gon doesn't act according to what's right or wrong, an example of this is him advising Kurapika not to seek the path of revenge but then goes all the way and destroys Pitou for killing Kite. It's all according to Gon's mood. He has his own image of what's right and what's wrong.

Even this change that happened to him wasn't really surprising.

This is a kid that participated in the Hunter's exam, he saw people die and didn't even flench, he saw Killua rip Johness The Dissector's heart and it didn't even shake him. A normal kid would've been absolutely traumatized by these grisly scenes, even his master wing..... He literally said that he woke a monster and that was in the very beginning of the story after he taught Gon Nen.

Even Gon's boost, it was clearly explained time and time again that Nen is all about equivalent exchange, the more you sacrifice, the more powerful your nen will be ... The harsher the condition that you place, the stronger the ability will become.

Gon didn't mind losing EVERYTHING. He didn't care if he dies, if he loses the ability to use nen.... He didn't care. So he basically put everything on the line which gained him this extreme power that didn't even contradict his affinity. Gon is an enhancer, what he got was just complete enhancement of his physical condition and aura quantity.
